Terminator Program provides an opportunity to operate in a local network.
In this case, the Terminator program itself can be run on any machine of the local network and become a server of Terminator network, while on client PCs the program Client, included in the delivery pack, will run. Network clients can be run indefinitely.
All network parameters: network names and clients’ passwords, feature sets available to clients are set individually for each client on the network in the Network window in Terminator software.
The main function of the Client software is to transfer commands to the Server. In addition, Client program may act as a wireless repeater for radio charms of the Terminator device — to extend the range of radio charms.
Consider options for Terminator networking:
Figure 1: Organizing Terminator’s local network (Local network with one Terminator device)
Figure 1 shows a basic version of the Terminator system in local network.
- Red lines — Network Cable;
- Green Zone — Coverage of Server’s charms;
In the Figure 1 we see that Server’s radio charms will only work in the green zone.
If the office is small or the operator is always within the green zone, the range of the standard radio charms would be enough, and you can use this option as working one. But if the office is large, located on different floors, or the operator moves around the office and can get out of the green zone, in this case it is safer to use an option shown in Figure 2.
Figure 2 shows an expanded version of the Terminator system in the local network.Red lines — Network Cable;
- Green Zone — Coverage of Server’s charms;
- Grey zones — Coverage of Client’s charms;
In the Figure 2 we see that Server’s radio charms will work not only in the green, but in all gray zones, as Terminator device connected to clients PC’s, receives signals from radio charms and transfers them to the Server.
I.e. according to our figure if additional Terminator devices are installed on all four clients’ PCs, Server’s radio charms will work n all five shaded areas. In today’s offices that are noisy and full of various instruments this is very important!
Of course, there may be not four, but any number of additional devices.
Option 1 is less expensive, but can be applied only in a small room because so-called automatic «dead zones», ie area where radio charms don’t work, will appear that will dramatically reduce system reliability, especially in case of management via Internet.
Option 2 is more expensive, because requires multiple Terminator devices, but it provides greater reliability in emergency situations, and that’s the main thing.
